Sensitive, Not Specific
hsCRP is a sensitive but nonspecific inflammation marker: it can't tell you the source. A head cold, a minor injury, or Tuesday's brutal leg day can all send it up temporarily.
Getting a Clean Read
Retest once you're well, and avoid hard exercise for 24–48 hours before a collection meant to reflect your baseline. This is precisely where a monthly view earns its keep: it shows whether an inflammatory result returned to baseline or stayed stubbornly elevated the one thing a single test can never show you.
The Ferritin Connection
Ferritin also rises with inflammation, which is why Rythm reads the two together. Paired with hsCRP, an “inflamed” ferritin can't quietly masquerade as healthy iron stores.
